ser vs. estar

Verb 'to be' in Spanish is irregular and has two versions:

  • ser - a passive one; tells about the nature of something, general and permanent characteristic or condition of something
  • estar - an active one; tells about the current state, characteristic or condition

Pronombre Ser Estar
Yo soy estoy
eres estás
Él, ella, usted es está
Nosotros somos estamos
Vosotros sois estáis
Ellos, ellas, ustedes son están
